About the Studio

Located in San Andreas, Gold Country Art Spot is a space for kids to find and explore their natural creativity. As a mom, I get it… art is messy! Between the hassle of specialty supplies and the alarming thought of paint and glitter splattered across the kitchen table at dinner time, it’s easy for art to be avoided. But, the importance of creative thinking has never been more essential. That is where Gold Country Art Spot comes in. We offer kids the space to get messy and creative, to be thoughtful in how they observe the world, to explore a variety of studio quality real art supplies, and to practice critical thinking skills. As a mom who is passionate about including art and art history in my children’s educational experience, I am committed to bringing the wonder of art, color and “making” to kids.  

About Me

Hi, I’m Shawna Holm (Shawna Bayers if we went to school together)! I grew up in Calaveras County, and after moving back to San Andreas a few years ago with my husband, we are now raising our two boys here. Art and design have always been important to me. Growing up, I loved making things: cards, gifts, crafts—you name it. In high school, I worked at the Calaveras Enterprise learning about design and printing. After graduating from University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, I worked creatively in the graphic design, marketing, and printing industries throughout the Central Valley. When I’m not creating logos and marketing campaigns, I find myself gravitating to hands-on creative projects — from refinishing furniture, to seasonal art projects with my kids, I love getting my hands dirty and making all the things!
